There are times that the sound of the door closing behind you or the sound of the automatic locks in your car ring with dread because as you press the palms of your hands on your pockets and feel them flat or frantically dig into the dark abyss which your purse, you know that an ordeal may ensue for you to get back in; or, a committee is meeting, a group of “friends” are congregating and you are not privy to the conversation.  Whether social or professional, you feel isolation and agonize, “how do I get in?”  Often times we are forced to get outside help from a locksmith or scale walls and windows to enter a physical space and do even crazier things to be accepted and enter the figurative space, but then we are reminded of the Beauty: the Beauty in finally opening the door, the Beauty in back-up sets, the Beauty in losing desire to “get in” and/or “fit in,” the Beauty in getting creative, the Beauty in assistance, the Beauty in being locked out.Image

Events occur and because you cannot attend, you’re forced to watch from behind a screen of some sort.  People live great distances and because you cannot hold and see them face to face, you succumb to using technology to connect. You aim for a particular milestone and despite the efforts exerted, Imageyou don’t quite get it. The word miss begins several of its definitions whether it be missing a meeting, missing a friend, or missing a mark as a failure to …a failure to make an appointment, a failure to see a loved one.  Often times, the word failure and more so, the feeling of failing could encapsulate you and mere missing can develop into debilitating sadness, but then you are reminded of the Beauty: the Beauty in when one door closes, another opens, the Beauty in technological advancement, the Beauty in rescheduling; the Beauty in trying again, the Beauty in setting new goals, the Beauty in missing things.
